I’m an Iranian student at the university of Florida. I’m doing my masters in mass communications and women’s studies, concurrently. My tentative graduation date is May 2008. My research is on social movements and ICTs (information communication technologies). For my women’s studies thesis I will explore the role Internet plays in the contemporary women’s movement in Iran. I also have a B.A in English translation and an M.A in English literature from Tehran Azad University. I’ve been an English teacher and a freelance translator in Iran. I’m now a research assistant at the University of Florida.
I came to the US in 2004. I’ve been blogging in Persian since 2001 (I’m one of the first Iranian female bloggers), and I started my English blog in 2003. My previous English blog, ladysun.net, was filtered in Iran in 2004, and my Persian blog was filtered in 2006. So, I’ve started new Persian and English blogs in Word Press.
I’m a feminist and consider myself a member of women’s movement in Iran. I cooperate with Stop Stoning Forever and One Million Signatures campaigns in Iran.
