Women’s eNews have chosen 21 female leaders for the 21st century, and Shadi Sadr, my dear friend and the editor of Women in Iran, is in this list. She has won the Ida B. Wells Award for Bravery in Journalism. There are many other famous women in Women’s eNews list such as Shirin Ebadi and Jane Fonda. Shadi’s article about Afsaneh Norouzi, a woman sentenced to death in Iran, has once been the cover story of this website.

It’s so outstanding that Iranian women’s voice is heard abroad, but it’s so sad that the same voice is hardly heard inside the country, or it is heard but ignored, or it is heard but not welcomed. The last example is the fact that Shadi Sadr is summoned to the court for her speech in a university about Iran joining the convention of all kinds of discrimination against women. She should go to the court next Sunday. I wish everything will be alright. :(
